A Linha de Cintura  construída no final do século XIX é uma ferrovia semicircular (Campolide – Sete Rios – Entrecampos – Chelas – Braço de Prata) de Lisboa que com os seus cerca de 12 km permite ligar entre si as linhas ferroviárias de passageiros do Norte, Sul e Sintra. Esteve também planeada uma Segunda Linha de Cintura que permitiria ligar diretamente a linha de Sintra à linha do Norte sem passar pelo município Lisboa. Seria também em forma semicircular e estenderia-se entre a Amadora e Sacavém, Loures, passando pela Pontinha, Odivelas, e Lumiar, Lisboa. O Plano Director de 1976 do município de Lisboa retrata essa possibilidade na sua parte superior: Na próxima imagem, encontra-se o traçado proposto para a hipotética  Segunda Linha de Cintura num mapa da região de Lisboa em 2011:
